The Pep Culpepper Trio
Saturday January 16th - Castle Key Dining Room
7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Cover charge $8.00

The spirit of music is in the wind.  If you listen with your heart melodies are revealed. They may be beautiful, dangerous, inspiring, exotic, truthful, or spiritual depending on the messenger. Mitchell Culpepper singer, guitar player and leader of the Pep Culpepper Trio demonstrates his understanding of the melodies that appear to him through his heart.   Mitchell is a descendant of the Mississippi Choctaw Nation and is a 'magda vehu' which means 'Black Indian'. He discovered the magic of music through his voice and guitar at an early age and has been playing clubs since he was a teenager. Mitchell has played with such music industry icons as Bruce Hornsby and Bradford Marsallis. Above all else Mitchell confesses, "I keep it real. I am not interested in styles, trends, or what other cats are playing. I am free and I have something to say." This will be the Pep Culpepper Trio's first visit to the Castle Key and we are excited to see what promises to be a creative and invigorating show.

Saturday February 27th
7:00 to 10:00 p.m. - Castle Key Dining Room
Cover Charge $12.00

Entering their fifteenth year of performing Pearl Django continues to be one of America’s most respected and busiest Hot Club style groups. Though still strongly influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt, Pearl Django’s repertoire now includes many original compositions. Their music reaches out across the divides of taste to a wide variety of audiences. The band's fervent followers include Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli fans, guitar enthusiasts (and guitarists!), lovers of string music, including bluegrass devotees, who relish nimble, clean, intricate picking, "world music" fans drawn to French and Gypsy accents, plus jazz buffs and aficionados of the new swing music. Transcending simple categorization, Pearl Django packs in enthusiastic audiences at dancehalls and nightclubs, at folk music festivals and jazz festivals alike.  It is a real treat to have them returning to the intimate and acoustically pristine setting of the Castle Key.  Come and join us for what promises to be a great show.

Castle Key Presents

The Skip Morris Trio
Saturday, March 20th
7:00 to 10:00 p.m. - Castle Key Dining Room
Cover Charge $8.00

Jazz guitarist and vocalist Skip Morris says, "This trio is a treat--I can't always get these guys, but I'll have them this time and they're amazing! Mike is a true virtuoso on two instruments and Ted nails down the beat and weaves his lines around everyone else's as though he's got ESP. Ted's an outstanding soloist, too."

Skip is referring to Mike Horsfall, a full-time vibraphonist and pianist out of Portland and string bassist Ted Enderle. Both musicians have played with not only some of the top names in jazz but in music--Tony Bennett, Eydie Gorme...

Skip is as known for his singing (often compared with Mel Torme) as his guitar playing. Guitarists know him from his long-running "Player to Player" column in JUST JAZZ GUITAR magazine.

Come hear the Skip Morris Trio--colorful arrangements, intricate interplay, exceptional soloing and vocals, and hard swinging!
