Painter, Susan Hazard, Shows at the Castle Key
 
Susan Hazard expresses an intense joy and sensitivity towards the natural world through her colorful and richly textured paintings. Susan has created art since her earliest years. A strong interest and focus on utilizing her talent and exploring led her to the San Francisco Art Institute, the Santa Barbara Art Institute, Santa Barbara City College and eventually a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara in painting and printmaking in 1990. While completing this degree she began her professional art career.
After travels through the western United Sates and adjacent countries north and south, Susan traveled to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. An opportunity to move to the natural beauty of Ireland from her hometown of Santa Barbara was made a reality in 1991. During her more than three year residence in County Mayo, Ireland she was involved in numerous solo art exhibitions and a number of group shows. Susan also organized and taught watercolor and oil painting classes for adults. After a move of studio and residence to the Pacific Northwest in 2005, Susan opened the Courtyard Gallery and Studio in Port Townsend in August 2006. She continues to paint colorful and vivacious gardens, land, and seascapes with her unique palette knife and oils technique.
